Norse god Víðar
In Norse mythology, Víðar is one of the Æsir, the gods, and he is known for being extremely strong and is called the silent god. He is the son of Odin and the giantess Gríðr, and he lives in a place called Vidi, where thickets and grass grow. After Thor, he is the strongest of the gods. Víðar has a very special pair of shoes made from all the scraps of leather people cut off when making shoes, making them very large and incredibly thick. When the wolf Fenrir swallows Odin, Víðar avenges his father by placing his foot, with the special shoe, into the wolf’s mouth, tearing its jaws apart and killing it. He is one of the gods who survive Ragnarök.
